BETRAYER, formed in January of 2010 in Portage, IN, came into existence through the minds of Justin Wilbanks (Guitar/Backing Vox) and Kevin Baumann (Drums) to bring a new sound to the local scene. After a few line-up changes and revisions of what we were producing musically we have finally built a solid foundation to progress and continue on.

We are a Progressive Metal act incorporating polyrhythmic groove and ambience. Our EP entitled “Beneath the Realm of Consciousness” demonstrates the full spectrum of our influences being, the intricate yet chaotic sounds of early MESHUGGAH, all the way to the melodic open-ended structures of later era ISIS. Thus blending de-tuned syncopated death metal with an always progressing revolving door of ambient soundscapes and an infinite level of creativity.

This latest effort was tracked, mixed and mastered by Nick Nativo in the Fall of 2011 at The Nook Recording Studio in New Lenox, IL.

Most recently we have shared the stage with;  BERMUDA, THE CONTORTIONIST, SERPENTS, MOLOTOV SOLUTION, THE TONY DANZA TAPDANCE EXTRAVAGANZA, WRETCHED, BURNING THE MASSES, CIRCLE OF CONTEMPT, LAST CHANCE TO REASON, SCALE THE SUMMIT, VOLUMES, STRUC/TURES, CONDUCTING FROM THE GRAVE, RINGS OF SATURN, AEGAEON, FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY & KING CONQUER.

Our purpose is to write music that connects with people all around the world and to leave our mark on humanity. We are continuously trying to expand our boundaries as individuals, musicians and artists by creating our own unique path and our own distinct place in music today.
